The Creation of a Pan-African School in Ethiopia
The Creation of a Pan-African School in Ethiopia
The idea is firstly to create an open space for debate, sharing and learning of Ancient African history, using the most accessible models for children and adolescents: art, language, culture, morality, mobility, cultural, linguistic and cultural exchanges, etc.
We started in the last 10 year in social and cultural work in Cape Verde, from where the Korrenti di Activist Movement originated, the emergence of Cabralist thought, and also the Pilorinhu Association, (2014) a Community Association whose work of community associativism influenced the creation of various groups and associations and new activists generation in Cape Verde.
After the emergence of theses social movements mentioned since 2010, in 2016 founder´s member´s settled in Senegal for two years.
Since contact with the country of the “Wolof Empire”, of the great thinker and Egypt, Cheikh Anta Diop, in the city Of Dakar, gave sequences the mobility of artists between these two countries, namely in the field of Sewing Art, installation of the Artistic Sewing Atêlier with the Brand DEUG DEUG 65.
After 2 years of experiences between these two countries, Ethiopia was the new destination chosen in 2018.
In the country of “Queen Makeda” and the former Axumite Empire, experiences in the social field not only allowed the development of new projects but also allowed us to come into contacts with peoples unknown to our reality of the West African coast.
In addition to permanent contacts with people from Cape Verde and Senegal, we have also completed the installation of another artistic sewing workshop, based specifically on making bags and backpacks with fabrics from different African countries.
Learning the new language, habits and cultures, projects began to emerge in one of the countries where we can experience the fall of the last African empire after 3000 years: the Empire of Ethiopia that lasted until 1974 with one of the bloodiest coups in history namely the Derg regime.
It should be noted that Ethiopia is the only African country that has never been fully colonized by western foreign powers, despite all attempts and invasions on its main borders in the case of, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia.
Therefore, the continuation project in this country, where the Blue Nile flows towards Sudan, from Lac Tana, we have once again gathered in a Pilot experience 12 children and adolescents, 7 them from South Sudam, the Nuer´s tribe of Nile linguistic family and 5 Ethiopians of different ethnicities but with the mother tongue Amarik, official language of Ethiopia.
From this Excelent experience of using free time for 15 days, the main contents taught were: the origin of Coffee, the Nuers, the great lakes and the origin of man, Islam, Christianity, the Meroe civilization, Axumite and Cuxites.
In conclusion, this experience we have come to the conclusion that it is a unique opportunity in Africa to work on its original history from its own context.
In other words, by launching this challenge of the creation of this school we are creating a unique opportunity for these children to see their foremost and bloodies and their ancestry instead of feeling inferior men with no history without culture and without a future.
For us it is the best way to motivate a forgotten generation, a generation whose future is highly committed to a deficit system in the social area as a consequence of the great alarm of Pandemic Covid 19.
Moreover, it is a unique opportunity to gather direct experiences from the 3 countries: Cape Verd, Senegal and Ethiopia.
So help us to put together this project to shine again our continent as it was in the past and at first with the Civilization Of Egypt, Meroe, Cushitic and Axumite and not only.
We hope that its full integration in the next step of the project will be the installation of space with library, video library, artistic and voluntary Lodge, art space in deep connection with the central objective of the project: the continued research of our ancient civilization and the projection of the continent united and in Peace with each other.
